To promote cross-cultural understanding and deepen the exchange between international and local students in our college, the School of Computer Science and Information Engineering successfully organized an event on the evening of December 7, 2023, at 18:00 in the Party and Youth League Activity Room of Building Ten. The theme of the event was "Taking Practical Actions for Fellow Students." Three student representatives, including Wang Quan, a representative of the Communist Party preparatory members, and three international students from the college participated in the event. The discussion covered various topics related to life and academics.

At the beginning of the event, the three student representatives introduced themselves, and the international students, Selim, Aman, and Nasri, also introduced themselves and their hometowns. Wang Quan, as a student representative, inquired about any difficulties and challenges the three international students may have faced in their academic and personal planning. Each international student expressed their thoughts, with Selim, from Turkmenistan, who has been living in Shanghai for five years, expressing his love for the Chinese student life and culture in fluent Chinese. According to him, he has fully integrated into Chinese life and maintains an open attitude toward future plans after graduation, stating, "If you don't do it, you'll never start." Following this, students at the event engaged in deeper discussions and sharing about their habits, hobbies, and development plans, deepening their understanding of each other.

International exchange fosters connections between different cultures. The hosting of this thematic exchange event for international students not only provided local students with more opportunities to understand their international peers but also narrowed the gap between international and local students. It laid the foundation for future collaborations and interactions among international students. It is hoped that through such activities, international students can better integrate into the academic and social environment of China, thereby fostering friendship and understanding between Chinese and international students.
